Regrouting in Easthouses
We cover Easthouses for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
Regrouting in Easthouses
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, others just the shower. Either way, tiled areas in Easthouses are handled the same careful way. If you are dealing with floor grout that won’t come clean and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, we can put it right, on bathroom floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls alike.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Landlords and agents in Easthouses can book us as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.
Do you need regrouting in Easthouses?
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before we start.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Newbattle Community High School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

How it works
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. It usually takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Outdoor work around Easthouses depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers, as they can break grout down.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.
Regrouting around Easthouses
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

How the job changes by surface
Shower walls
A shower wall is soaked daily, so its grout takes the most punishment. It’s often the first place grout washes out.
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Common questions in Easthouses
Will you come out to Easthouses?
Yes, Easthouses is covered. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Do you cover Easthouses for regrouting?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Easthouses is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes, we often do. The shower generally fails first, so many people regrout just that part.
Is resealing included with regrouting?
Generally, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has usually failed. Regrouting alone isn’t the answer, and we’ll tell you before any work starts.
Where are you based?
We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Do I have to be there?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
When can I use the shower again?
Before we leave, we’ll tell you how long to wait. Both the grout and the silicone need time to cure before the shower is used.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
What happens if it’s left?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and the room is out of use for longer. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.
