- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Corrie
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the discolouration has normally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. We’re often asked to deal with cracked grout along the bath or tray and grout washed out of a shower, on wet rooms, bathroom floors and tiled floors.
A bathroom in a place like Corrie gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee.

Why deal with it now?
Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They will not fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Around Corrie, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

FAQs for Corrie
Is regrouting in Corrie guaranteed?
All our work, in Corrie and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Do you cover Corrie for regrouting?
Yes, Corrie is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
When can I use the shower again?
Before we leave, we’ll tell you how long to wait. The grout and sealant both need to cure before the shower is used.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Regrouting will not fix loose tiles. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow, so you can decide what to do.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. We can talk about working times when we quote.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.
What regrouting looks like in Corrie
Corrie is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
Around Corrie, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Surface by surface
Wet rooms
Wet room grout and sealant need to be in good order. We replace the grout and reseal the edges.
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We replace it, and reseal the corners.
Signs you need regrouting in Corrie
Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Grout washed out of a shower
Whether the job is in Corrie itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.
Questions to ask before you book
- How hidden problems are handled
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
What happens on the day
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
