Need a mastic man in G74?

Our bathroom resealing service in G74

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across G74. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. We work on wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & upstands, and common reasons people get in touch are black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and splits where the tray meets the wall.

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, including the tidy-up.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

What affects the price in G74

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

East Kilbride’s nearest station is East Kilbride station, about 0.7 miles north-east. A little further out are East Kilbride Shopping Centre (0.6 miles east) and Mains Castle (1.4 miles north). The countryside around East Kilbride includes Cathkin Braes.

Bathrooms and kitchens across G74

Our bathroom resealing work across G74 covers homes, rentals and businesses, in East Kilbride, Mossneuk and West Mains and well beyond. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

We work across all of Scotland, from the cities to the islands, and G74 is part of that. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather.

East Kilbride: Managing a site like Duncanrig Secondary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you let a flat or house near East Kilbride station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

How the job changes by surface

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

Wet rooms

Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They get anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower

In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop. A dry joint lasts longer.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

For landlords and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

What affects the quote in G74

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Access and height
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The amount of work
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • The rough size of the job
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts.

Signs you need bathroom resealing

Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

Your questions about bathroom resealing in G74

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. Every trace of the old bead is removed first.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, businesses and hotels in G74.

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or as long as we advise for that product.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we’re fully insured for every job we do.

Which products do you use?

Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

Can tenants book the work?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.
