Fire-rated sealant in Stanley, Perth and Kinross
Fire-stopping gaps in Stanley need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.

- Gaps flagged on a fire risk assessment
How we handle fire rated sealant in Stanley
Later work by other trades often breaks through fire stopping, especially in flats, HMOs, offices and schools. A new cable run or a replaced pipe can leave an open hole behind. Those are the gaps we close, using a tested fire-rated product. We’re often asked to deal with standard silicone or caulk in a fire-stopping gap and unsealed gaps around fire door frames, across plasterboard & masonry, linear gaps and door frames.
Work in a place like Stanley is planned ahead, journey included, so it can be fitted around bookings or opening times where possible.

Workplaces and buildings in Stanley
In Scotland, building work comes under the Building (Scotland) Regulations and their technical handbooks. Fire-rated sealant is installed to the manufacturer’s tested details; we do not certify buildings or carry out fire risk assessments.
Around Stanley, as everywhere, fire rated sealant is only as good as the preparation behind it. For buildings such as St Columba's Episcopal Church, older buildings that have had new heating or wiring often have service gaps worth checking.
Stanley is about 6 miles north of Perth, in Perth and Kinross. Jobs in Stanley get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Stanley is one of 107 towns and villages in Perth and Kinross we cover for fire rated sealant. There’s also a page for Dundee, about 18 miles away.
Our applicators cover all of the PH1 postcode area for fire rated sealant and the streets around it. That includes homes and businesses on Station Road, Murray Place and Mill Street. Close by, we work in West Tofts (1 mile north), Guildtown (2 miles east), Luncarty (2 miles south), Stormontfield (2 miles south) and Scone (5 miles south). How the job changes by surface
Flats and HMOs
Conversions generally leave a mix of old and new service holes. The gaps on your list are sealed with a fire-rated product.
Service penetrations
Different services need different details: metal pipes, cables and plastic pipes aren’t treated the same. We follow the manufacturer’s tested detail for each and we flag any that need another system.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

What else we do in Stanley
Looking after it afterwards
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Allow for resealing whenever new services are run
- Make resealing part of every contractor’s brief
- Check risers, ceiling voids and cupboards during building checks
- Store the list of sealed gaps with your building paperwork
Don’t drill through or remove a fire seal without putting it back properly. New services through a sealed wall should include fire stopping in the plan.
Small gaps around services are simple to deal with while there are only a few. Leave them and each new job adds another hole and the list grows.
What affects the quote in Stanley
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- How much there is to do
- Any mould that needs treating
- Whether the work is at height
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear price for your job. To get started, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What we cannot put right
In fairness, there are a few things sealant will not fix:
- Fire risk assessments, which need a qualified assessor
- Construction that doesn’t provide fire resistance on its own
- Openings too large for sealant, which need batts, boards or another system
If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

How the visit works
At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself generally takes from a few hours to a few days, depending on the number of gaps and the access, depending on the amount of work. Outside jobs in Stanley need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- First we work through your list or survey, measuring each gap and checking what it’s formed in.
- We remove any old or unsuitable filler and clean the gap.
- We put in whatever backing or fill the product detail specifies.
- We apply the fire-rated or intumescent sealant to the specified depth and tool it.
- We record the locations and products used for your records.
How to prepare
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Stanley questions
Can you do fire rated sealant in Stanley?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Stanley is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Will you come out to Stanley?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.
What does intumescent mean?
An intumescent sealant expands when it gets hot, helping close the gap. It’s one type of fire-rated sealant; which product suits depends on the gap, the substrate and the service.
Can I choose the sealant colour?
Most of the time, yes. We will tell you which colours the right product comes in.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Stanley, along with the rest of our area.
Is it messy?
Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
