Need bathroom resealing in Meigle?

Why act early in Meigle

You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. Replacing the joint is usually all it takes. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

About our bathroom resealing in Meigle

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. If you have smears of silicone across the tiles and black spots spreading through the bead, we can put it right, on baths, sinks & splashbacks and shower trays & enclosures alike.

A bathroom in a place like Meigle gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Meigle

Is bathroom resealing in Meigle guaranteed?

All our work, in Meigle and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you cover smaller places like Meigle?

Yes. Meigle is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels across Perth and Kinross.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Meigle?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.

Do the sealants smell?

Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.

Will you leave a mess?

Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Is it worth trying it myself?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

What we cannot put right

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant

If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

Where we work in Meigle

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

What happens on the day

You don’t need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included in most cases. Outdoor work around Meigle depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Advice

How we quote for bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The type of sealant required
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.

What to tell us for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to know:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

Call for a quick quote, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll talk you through the work.

Bathroom resealing in Meigle: local notes

In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

In and around Meigle, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. In the older streets around Meigle Parish Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Should I try it myself first?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

For landlords and businesses
