Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Rattray, Perth and Kinross
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing for householders, landlords and businesses in Rattray. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
Bathroom resealing in Rattray, done properly
It is not only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. Common call-outs are for water escaping at the shower enclosure and splits where the tray meets the wall, across wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and shower trays & enclosures.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Rattray work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How the visit works
There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom for a typical job. Around Rattray, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
How to prepare
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.
Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
Bathroom resealing in Rattray: local notes
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Rattray. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.
Homes close to Parish Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

How we quote for bathroom resealing
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number and length of the joints
- Any working-time requirements on site
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What we need to know
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- If someone has resealed it before
Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand.
Do you need bathroom resealing in Rattray?
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. An acrylic bath flexes under load, while a poorly supported tray can shift underfoot. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.
Look out for any of the following:
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
If you look after a building such as Blairgowrie High School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
What to look for in a quote
- The length of the guarantee
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- Are they insured?
- How hidden problems are handled
DIY sealant or a professional job?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Why deal with it now?
Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is usually all it takes. If something else is wrong, we will tell you. In an older home around Rattray, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first.
Why us?
- We never seal over old sealant
- We agree the colour with you first
- An ARBOMaster approved applicator
- More than 20 years in sealant work

Is white the only colour available?
You’re not limited to white: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We’ll talk it through when we quote.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
We give you the cure time before we leave, and it’s generally around 24 hours. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.
