Bathroom Resealing in Drem
We cover Drem for bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and a one-year guarantee.
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
Bathroom resealing in Drem
Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it into walls, panels and floors. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. If you have damp behind the bath or under the tray and a reseal done over the top of the old bead, we can put it right.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Drem as everywhere else we work.

What sealant work can’t fix
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
Should I try it myself first?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Drem homes and their sealant
Drem is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
If you let a flat or house near Drem station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Common problems we fix in Drem
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Daily water, heat and cleaning products take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.
The most common problems we see are:
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
In and around Drem, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

What affects the quote in Drem
You will get a clear quote before we start. It’s based on:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The number and length of the joints
- The product the joint needs
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Where the property is
- A few pictures by email, if you can
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
To get a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.
Drem: your questions answered
Do you work for landlords with property near Drem station?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Can you do bathroom resealing in Drem?
Yes, Drem is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
We give you the cure time before we leave, and it’s generally around 24 hours. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.
What should I tell you?
Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we’re fully insured.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.

How the visit works
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. The job normally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Around Drem, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Why act early in Drem
Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.
