Ashkirk Bathroom Resealing
Professional bathroom resealing in and around Ashkirk, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a 12-month guarantee.
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
What happens on the day
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, and the area is left clean. For a place like Ashkirk, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Different surfaces, different methods
Shower trays & enclosures
Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Sinks & splashbacks
The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.
What sealant work cannot fix
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.

FAQs for Ashkirk
Do you cover Ashkirk for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Ashkirk is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Is Ashkirk within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work across all of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Will you leave a mess?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit.
Bathroom resealing in Ashkirk: local notes
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Around Ashkirk, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Homes close to Ashkirk Parish Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Ashkirk
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How easy the joints are to reach
- When we can work, for business premises
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
What to tell us for a quote
When you call or email, it’s useful to know:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- How we’d reach the joints
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- What’s wrong with the joints now
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that is easy.

Leave it or put it right?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll talk you through it.

Keeping the joints in good condition
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
Do not wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
