Regrouting in Evie
Our applicators work in Evie on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Floor grout that will not come clean
How we handle regrouting in Evie
Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We work on shower walls, wet rooms and tiled floors, and people most often call us about a grout colour that no longer suits the room and grout that’s cracking and breaking up.
In and around a place like Evie, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time, long before the grout does.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough so early action pays.

About regrouting
How it works
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and the area is left clean. Outside jobs in Evie need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors isn’t affected.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

What sealant work cannot fix
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
If you are not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Do you need regrouting in Evie?
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that is hard to shift. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
The problems people normally mention when they call include:
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Floor grout that will not come clean
In and around Evie, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
What your quote should include
- How much experience the applicator has
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- How long to leave it before use
- What happens if the job turns out different
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
Evie questions
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Evie?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Can you do regrouting in Evie?
Yes, Evie is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
How long does regrouting take?
Typically it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Bigger jobs take longer, and we will say how long yours will take.
Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?
It can. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint rather than sitting on top.
What does regrouting cost?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts.
What should I tell you?
Tell us what needs doing and where. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.

Regrouting around Evie
Evie is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
For jobs in and around Evie, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

Why deal with it now?
Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but the patches often don’t match and the old grout carries on failing. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. In a place like Evie, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll talk you through it.
