Sealant work in PH15

Our bathroom resealing service in PH15

A bead that has gone black, split or come away shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a photo of the joints, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are a joint torn by a bath that flexes and damp behind the bath or under the tray.

We bring everything the job needs with us. Once we have agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

What affects the price in PH15

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Why choose Mr Mastic

  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • You choose the colour before work begins
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over

How to get a quote

We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job.

Bathrooms and kitchens across PH15

Homes across PH15 range from older properties to new builds, and in places like Aberfeldy, Kenmore and Fearnan there’s plenty of rented property too. Sound sealant and clean grout keep water out and rooms looking cared for.

Scotland has its own building regulations, and homes here bring their own details: harled walls, sash and case windows and, in the larger towns and cities, tenements. PH15 is part of the area we cover across Scotland.

Aberfeldy: In and around Aberfeldy, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Breadalbane Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Honest limits

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Failed grout lines across the wall

Can I do it myself?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

What happens if it’s left?

Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. Lumpy sealant with smears on the tiles has the opposite effect.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • What insurance they hold
  • Which colour the sealant will be

How we quote for bathroom resealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • The product the joint needs
  • Access and height
  • Any mould that needs treating

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What we need to know

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

Call for a quick quote, or email us if that’s easier. Describe what needs sealing and we will explain what’s involved and give you a clear price.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in PH15

What information do you need?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. We strip the bead, treat the joint and lay new anti-fungal silicone.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, with a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows.
