Mastic and sealant across AB51

About bathroom resealing in AB51

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We’re often asked to deal with mouldy sealant that has gone black and water escaping at the shower enclosure, across wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & upstands.

Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

What you’ll pay

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Local landmarks in Inverurie

Around Inverurie, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Inverurie Academy, West Parish Church and The Gordon Highlander pub and the streets around them. There’s a railway station in Inverurie itself: Inverurie station. Nearby you’ll also find Garioch Heritage Centre (less than half a mile east) and Pitcaple Castle (3.7 miles north-west). Not far away are Scroggie Hill.

Bathrooms and kitchens across AB51

From Inverurie, Garioch and Kemnay to its smaller places, homes across AB51 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.

We work across all of Scotland, from the cities to the islands, and AB51 is part of that. Journeys are planned ahead, and outside jobs are booked around the forecast.

Inverurie: Schools such as Inverurie Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Inverurie station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Leave it or put it right?

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Different surfaces, different methods

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The type of sealant required

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Helping us quote

You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Photos by email, if that is easy

If you are in AB51 and need bathroom resealing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts.

What sealant work can’t fix

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint

Questions from AB51

Do the sealants smell?

Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

Where do you work from?

Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in AB51?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.
