Bathroom resealing in Chapel of Garioch
It is not only bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are a reseal done over the top of the old bead and a joint torn by a bath that flexes.
For a place like Chapel of Garioch, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Chapel of Garioch
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- How many areas need sealing
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The type of sealant required
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
What to tell us for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll talk you through the work and send you a clear quote.
When to call us in Chapel of Garioch
Silicone needs a clean, dry surface without any grease to stick to. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, so a rushed job can start to lift early.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
For landlords with property near Inverurie station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Chapel of Garioch
Landlords and agents in Chapel of Garioch can book us as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
Why deal with it now?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Chapel of Garioch questions
Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Chapel of Garioch?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Is Chapel of Garioch within the area you cover?
Yes. Chapel of Garioch is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
Allow around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Of course. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Chapel of Garioch?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing and where.
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
What else we do in Chapel of Garioch
How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the size of the job. Outdoor work around Chapel of Garioch depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
