What bathroom resealing looks like in Daviot
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Homes close to Daviot Parish Church include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you let a flat or house near Inverurie station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

How we handle bathroom resealing in Daviot
Homes in Daviot have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and the jobs we see most are leaking joints on a shower screen and water getting behind the bath panel.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Daviot

- How easy the joints are to reach
- Any mould that needs treating

What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Whether it has been sealed before
- The type of property
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and add pictures by email if you can.
Honest limits
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Failed grout lines across the wall

Daviot: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Daviot?
Yes. Daviot is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is Daviot in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes, Daviot is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No. It’s a common reason for reseals failing. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Daviot?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.
Do I have to be there?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Is white the only colour available?
White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Daviot and the rest of Aberdeenshire, along with the rest of our area.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it generally cannot be cleaned out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.

Leave it or put it right?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it generally comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. In an older home around Daviot, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.
Why choose Mr Mastic in Daviot
- Old sealant always removed completely
- We agree the colour with you first
- Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
- Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas

Can I do it myself?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
How it works
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere like Daviot may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Mention any tricky access
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Tell us if parking is tricky

Related advice
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, following the cure time we give you. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
