Sealant work in AB53

Bathroom resealing across AB53: what to expect

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and sinks & splashbacks, and people most often call us about two layers of silicone, both failing and smears of silicone across the tiles.

When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

How we quote

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.

Why customers in AB53 choose us

Getting a quote

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.

Local landmarks in Turriff

Typical jobs here are in homes near Turriff Academy and St Ninian's Church, among other places. A little further out are Turriff Cottage Hospital (within half a mile east) and Delgatie Castle (1.8 miles east).

Bathrooms and kitchens across AB53

Homes across AB53 range from older properties to new builds, and in places like Turriff, New Deer and Cuminestown there’s plenty of rented property too. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.

We work across all of Scotland, from the cities to the islands, and AB53 is part of that. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather.

Turriff: If you live in an older home near St Ninian's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Managing a site like Turriff Academy? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Surface by surface

Baths

A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so we fill it with water before sealing. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and isn’t stretched when it’s used.

Basins & vanity units

The back of a basin gets wet every time someone washes. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.

What affects the quote in AB53

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Any mould that needs treating

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first and send you a clear quote before work begins.

Helping us quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • The rough size of the job
  • Where the property is
  • The type of property

Every job is quoted individually, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details, and photos are welcome.

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use

Have a look at the joints every few months. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something doesn’t look right, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.

Why deal with it now?

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you do not see: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early.

Common questions in AB53

How long before the new sealant can get wet?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.

Can I do it myself?

Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Is there any odour?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in AB53?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.
