Regrouting in Turriff
Regrouting for Turriff and the surrounding area: the right sealant, proper preparation and a neat finish. Call for a quick quote.
- Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
Leave it or put it right?
Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, and then you’re looking at retiling. Dealing with it now keeps it small. In an older home around Turriff, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
We do not show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Turriff
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. Typical jobs include grout stained black or orange that won’t clean and grout that makes sound tiles look old, across bathroom wall tiles, bathroom floors and wet rooms.
In and around a place like Turriff, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

The process
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Around Turriff, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Before we arrive
- Mention any tricky access
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
Getting a quote
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.
Advice
How we quote for regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The size of the job
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What to tell us for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Roughly how big the job is
Call for a quick quote, or email us if that is easier. Describe what needs sealing and we will explain what’s involved and give you a clear quote.
Turriff questions
Is Turriff within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Is regrouting in Turriff guaranteed?
All our work, in Turriff and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we’re fully insured too.
Will there be a smell?
Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Do you grout the corners?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly, and grout there cracks.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
What sealant do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
How long will you be here?
It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. We’ll give you a better idea when we quote.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Turriff
Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Managing a site like Turriff Academy? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as St Ninian's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Should I try it myself first?
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
Keeping the joints in good condition
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time.
Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
What we can’t put right
We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Wet rooms
- Shower walls
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom wall tiles
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but grout there still discolours. New grout freshens them up.
