Bathroom resealing across AB52: what to expect
Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. Once it cracks or goes mouldy, water starts to find its way through and into the wall or floor. Our team cut the old bead out completely and lay a new one in anti-fungal sanitary silicone. We work on shower trays & enclosures, sinks & splashbacks and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are leaking joints on a shower screen and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off.
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and tidy away. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Near you in Insch
We work in homes and buildings around Insch and the streets around them. Insch has its own railway station: Insch station. Bathrooms and kitchens across AB52
In AB52, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, in Insch, Old Rayne and Auchleven and well beyond. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
Our work covers the whole of Scotland, AB52 included. Journeys are planned ahead, and outside jobs are booked around the forecast.
Insch: If you let a flat or house near Insch station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Around Insch, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:
- The amount of work
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Any mould that needs treating
- How easy the joints are to reach
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.
What to tell us for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Whether it has been sealed before
- What’s wrong with the joints now
There’s no standard price list. Instead, we give you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Different surfaces, different methods
Shower trays & enclosures
If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone won’t last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.
Wet rooms
Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
For landlords and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. We can quote for more than one property at once.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Signs you need bathroom resealing
Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.
Common reasons people contact us include:
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
Common questions in AB52
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, every time. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Do you work in AB52?
Yes. We work in AB52 and the rest of Aberdeenshire, as part of our work across South East England, London and Scotland. For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?
Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in AB52?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.
Will you leave a mess?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
