Insch Glazing Silicone
Professional glazing silicone in and around Insch, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a 12-month guarantee.
- Leaks from the base of a shower screen
- Glass-to-glass joints that have split
- Stained, discoloured glazing silicone
About our glazing silicone in Insch
Not every silicone suits glass. Our applicators use neutral-cure glazing silicone, which suits glass and most frame materials, finished with a neat, even bead. Typical jobs include sealant that was laid over old silicone and failed and shower screens leaking along the wall or tray, on shower screens, rooflights and glass-to-frame joints.
Older stone-built homes in Scotland often have sash and case or timber windows set in stone. The sealant has to suit the stone, which rules out acetoxy silicones that can mark or attack it.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Questions from Insch
Do you work for landlords with property near Insch station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Can you do glazing silicone in Insch?
Yes, Insch is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.
How long before the joint can be used?
It depends on the product and the conditions. Before we leave, we will tell you the cure time.
Which silicone is used for glass joints?
Glass needs a sealant made for glazing. We use neutral-cure glazing silicone and anti-fungal silicone in wet areas.
What should I tell you?
A short description and the location, plus photos if you have them. If we need more, we’ll ask.
What does glazing silicone cost?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing and where.
Do you offer different sealant colours?
Yes. White, clear and grey are common, and other colours are available for many products, and we agree the colour with you before work begins.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.
What the job involves on each surface
Rooflights
Rooflight leaks can come from the sealant or the roof. We find the cause first.
Conservatory frames
Exposed frame joints wear with the weather. A fresh bead seals them again.
Frames and glazing around Insch
Many older homes in Scotland have sash and case windows, and the joint between the box frame and the stone or render is traditionally pointed with sand mastic. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
Around Insch, as everywhere, glazing silicone is only as good as the preparation behind it.

What else we do in Insch
Why it’s worth doing now in Insch
Dealing with a leaking shower screen early protects the floor and ceiling. A small leak can reach the floor below before it shows. In an older home around Insch, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.
The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before any work starts.

Quotes for glazing silicone in Insch
We do not publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Whether the work is at height
- How many areas need sealing
- The old material and how stubborn it is
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- The rough size of the job
- Where the job is, and your postcode
Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details and send pictures if you have them.
How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Ventilate the conservatory to cut condensation
- Use gentle products around the joints
- Look over the glazing joints once a year
- Squeegee the shower screen after each use
Clear the conservatory gutters regularly so water does not back up against the seals. Blocked gutters can push water where it shouldn’t go.
Act on black or lifting silicone early. Once it starts to peel, water gets behind it and the problem grows.
Do you need glazing silicone in Insch?
Glass and frames expand and contract with the temperature, and they do not move by the same amount. Over years, that movement tears the silicone.
Look out for these signs:
- Glazing silicone that has cracked or come away
- New silicone smeared over old sealant
- Failed joints on frameless glass
- Water running down inside the glass
Letting a property close to Insch station? Then a shower screen or conservatory joint that leaks is easier to reseal while the property is empty.
What to look for in a quote
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- Whether they’re fully insured
- How long the guarantee is
- Whether VAT is included
DIY versus a professional finish
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
How the visit works
There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for most jobs for a typical job. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
- Old sealant is removed from the glass and frame.
- We clean and prepare the joint.
- New glazing silicone goes in and is finished neatly.
- The joints are checked before we leave.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
How to get a quote
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and email pictures if that’s easy.
