Bathroom Resealing in Ratling

Baths, showers and worktops in Ratling need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off

What we are called out for in Ratling

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting

Letting a property close to Adisham station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Ratling. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. The process

Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. For a village or hamlet like Ratling, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Clear the area around the work

Advice

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

There’s a choice: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We will talk it through when we quote.

Should I try it myself first?

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Ratling

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to St Peter include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Schools such as St Joseph's Catholic Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Different surfaces, different methods

Basins & vanity units

Basin joints are short and close to eye level: so we keep the line tidy and even, in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Sinks & splashbacks

The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ratling

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Keeping the joints in good condition

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth

Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.
