DIY sealant or a professional job?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Hunters Quay

Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling is worth sorting before it lets water through. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a photo of the joints, and you will get a clear quote before any work starts. If you have water getting behind the bath panel and water getting behind the kitchen upstand, we can help, whatever the surface.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Hunters Quay work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Hunters Quay

Do you work in hotels near Hunters Quay?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do you work for landlords with property near Gourock station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Hunters Quay?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.

What information do you need?

Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

We give you the cure time before we leave, and it’s usually around 24 hours. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:

  • The type of sealant required
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Access and height

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hunters Quay

Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.

What sealant work can’t fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

What we’re called out for in Hunters Quay

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Daily water, heat and cleaning products slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles

For an older house near a landmark such as Kirn Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is
  • What the cure time is
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • What product goes in the joint

Choosing a sealant specialist

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone won’t last. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so a neat, continuous bead matters.

What we do, step by step

When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Outside jobs in Hunters Quay need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
