DIY sealant or a professional job?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Hoo

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. If you have shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, we can put it right.

For a small place like Hoo, bathroom resealing is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

Every job comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Kent.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hoo

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you do not see: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. Older cottages and farmhouses around Hoo can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

What affects the quote in Hoo

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The amount of work
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Mould in or behind the old joints

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first.

Asking for a quote

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Where the property is

Common questions in Hoo

Do you work for landlords with property near Minster station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Do you cover Hoo for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Hoo is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes, a 12-month guarantee. Good ventilation and gentle cleaning help it last.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A sound joint along the back edge stops that.

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hoo

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll quote.

If you manage several properties in or around Hoo, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

Bathroom resealing in Hoo: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Monkton Church of England Primary School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Rented homes near Minster station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. In the older streets around Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What sealant work cannot fix

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What we do, step by step

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it generally takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Somewhere like Hoo needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about any water getting in
