Quotes for remedial sealant in Hoo

Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • The amount of work
  • The type of sealant required
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Whether the work is at height

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Asking for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • The rough size of the job
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the property is

To get a quote, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before we start.

How it works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a typical bath or shower, longer where several layers have been applied from start to finish. Somewhere like Hoo needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. Surrounding tiles, trays and frames are protected first.
  2. The botched or failed sealant is cut away completely.
  3. The joint is degreased and checked for movement and leaks.
  4. Once dry, a suitable sealant is applied and tooled.
  5. You get the cure time and our view on why the joint failed.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Hoo questions

Can you do remedial sealant in Hoo?

Yes, Hoo is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Do you work for landlords with property near Minster station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Can you fix a reseal that hasn’t worked?

Yes. We will take all the sealant out, look for why it failed and reseal it properly.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint.

Where do you work from?

We’re based in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Can you remove sealant that’s been put over old sealant?

Yes. We remove every layer; over-sealing fails because silicone won’t bond to silicone.

Does remedial work come with a guarantee?

Yes, for 12 months. If we’ve pointed out another problem, getting it fixed helps the new joint last.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Aftercare tips

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep bleach and abrasives off the bead
  • Do not add new sealant on top of old
  • Keep the room well ventilated
  • Look for stains below bathrooms now and then

Clean gently: a mild cleaner and a soft cloth, with no blades or scourers.

Don’t keep resealing the same joint. Have someone find out why, or the next bead will go the same way.

Do you need remedial sealant in Hoo?

Joint depth matters. A bead bonded on three sides, or laid too thick, cannot flex, so it tears when the joint moves. Backing sets the depth and stops that.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Mould trapped under a layer of silicone
  • Wide, uneven beads that look worse than the old ones
  • Caulk or the wrong sealant used in a wet area
  • Leaks that keep coming back after resealing

If you live in an older home near Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Choosing a sealant specialist

How the job changes by surface

Windows & doors

Some leaks around windows come from the wall or the window itself. We check the joint and tell you if it looks to be something else.

Worktops & kitchens

Old kitchen sealant pulls back from the wall over time. We strip it, degrease the joint and reseal colour-matched to the worktop.

Why deal with it now?

Repeat failures have a cause. Finding it, whether movement, water from elsewhere or an unsuitable product, ends the cycle. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Hoo, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
