Bathroom resealing near Dailly

About our bathroom resealing in Dailly

It isn’t only bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. Typical jobs include shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and mouldy sealant that has gone black, across baths, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are usually the first signs.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Dailly and everywhere else we cover.

Common questions in Dailly

What guarantee comes with bathroom resealing in Dailly?

All our work, in Dailly and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Will you come out to Dailly?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Where are you based?

Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Dailly

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

In and around Dailly, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Whether the job is in Dailly itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

What we can’t put right

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks

How the job changes by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Around the sink, we use a product suited to kitchens, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.

Baths

Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line

Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

Should I try it myself first?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Why deal with it now?

The difference in a professional reseal is mostly what you do not see: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

How the visit works

A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, protect the area around them, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Outside jobs in Dailly need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
