Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. We can quote for more than one property at once.

About our bathroom resealing in Cove Bay

Across Cove Bay, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. If you are dealing with failed sealant on the screen profile and mouldy sealant that has gone black, we can help, on baths, kitchen worktops & upstands and wet rooms alike.

From stone-built tenements to new flats and suburban houses, Cove Bay is in a city with every kind of home. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam and poor ventilation still let mould into the sealant and grout.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Cove Bay as everywhere else we work.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Cove Bay

There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many areas need sealing

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What to tell us for a quote

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • Where the property is
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

There’s no standard price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How it works

The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we’re treating, so you can get on with your day. The job usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we explain the cure time before we leave. In a city area like Cove Bay, parking may be by permit or pay-and-display, so tell us what’s nearby. For flats, mention the door entry system and any shared-stair arrangements.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, usually after around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Move anything stored near the joints

How to look after the new joints

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Move toiletries away from the joint

Have a look at the joints every few months. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

There are usually two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both get soaked every time the shower runs, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. If water gets in, the cabinet underneath can swell, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.

Cove Bay: your questions answered

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Aberdeen station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before work begins.

Could a leaking bath seal in my Cove Bay flat reach the neighbours below?

Yes, it can. In a tenement, water that gets past failed sealant or cracked grout can run under the bath or tray and through to the ceiling below, and then the repair involves your neighbours too. It’s worth sorting sealant and grout before it gets that far.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Cove Bay.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. We reseal worktop upstands, sinks and splashbacks, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

What information do you need?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?

It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Cove Bay?

Silicone needs a clean, dry surface without any grease to stick to. Traces of soap, bath oil and old sealant stop it gripping, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

The problems people generally mention when they call are:

  • Two layers of silicone, both failing
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Black spots spreading through the bead

Homes close to St Mary's Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • What the cure time is
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint

What sealant work can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If you are not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.
