When something else is needed

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Where we work in Hareshaw

  • Kitchen splashbacks

Regrouting in Hareshaw, done properly

Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. We work on bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and tiled floors, and people most often call us about greasy, stained grout behind the hob and cracked or crumbling grout lines.

Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

How the job changes by surface

Shower walls

A shower wall is soaked daily, so grout there works hardest. It’s often the first place grout washes out.

Bathroom wall tiles

Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on size. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.

FAQs for Hareshaw

Do you cover smaller places like Hareshaw?

Yes. Hareshaw is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is Hareshaw in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Hareshaw is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No, it won’t last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and include it in your quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.

Does someone need to be in?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. We will look at the rest of the room too and tell you if anything else needs attention.

Hareshaw homes and their sealant

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Brannock High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Cleland station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll give you a quote.

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Should I try it myself first?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How it works

On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. The work generally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere like Hareshaw may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Quotes for regrouting in Hareshaw

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Access and height
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • When we can work, for business premises

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Roughly how big the job is
  • The type of property
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • How we’d reach the joints

We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

How to look after the new joints

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough so early action pays.
