Regrouting in Douglastown
Problem with your tiled areas in Douglastown? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly.
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
Common problems we fix in Douglastown
Grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that’s used every day.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
In and around Douglastown, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Regrouting in Douglastown
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. We work on wet rooms, tiled floors and bathroom floors, and people most often call us about floor grout that has worn and darkened and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee.

Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom floors
New floor grout makes a big difference to how a bathroom looks. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.

Common questions in Douglastown
Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Douglastown?
Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Will you come out to Douglastown?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
Flexible sealant. Grout is for the joints between tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.
Do I need to be at home?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
Is the work guaranteed?
You get our 12-month guarantee on every job, and we are fully insured.
Do you reseal at the same time?
Normally, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.
What sealant do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
What should I tell you?
Let us know what needs doing and where, with pictures by email if possible. We will ask anything else we need to know.
How it works
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room and we leave things clean and tidy. Outdoor work around Douglastown depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
How to get a quote

- Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
