Carnoustie Regrouting
Problem with your tiled areas in Carnoustie? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, with a one-year guarantee.
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
How we handle regrouting in Carnoustie
Regrouting is usually paired with resealing. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they need flexible silicone instead. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. If you have grout washed out of a shower and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles, we can help.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

What we do, step by step
On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Carnoustie may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Clear the area around the work

Carnoustie questions
Is Carnoustie within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Golf Street station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Will it make a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.
Do you grout the corners?
Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, that’s common. The shower normally fails first, so many people regrout just that part.
What does regrouting cost?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Ask us for a quote.
How to look after the new joints
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Stick to that time, and go gently on the grout at first.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through, so get it looked at when you notice it.
How we quote for regrouting
You will get a clear quote before we start. It takes into account:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Which sealant suits the joint
Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.
Asking for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- If someone has resealed it before
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
We quote each job on its own. Simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job.
Regrouting around Carnoustie
Carnoustie is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Letting a property close to Golf Street station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. Managing a site like Carnoustie High School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Carnoustie Parish Church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
Carnoustie is about 6 miles east of Broughty Ferry, in Angus. From the centre of Carnoustie to the outskirts, regrouting is available for homes and businesses alike. Across Angus, we cover 40 places, and Carnoustie is one of them. Our Dundee page covers work nearby (10 miles or so).
Work in DD7 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. Streets in the area include High Street, Station Road and Braehead Lane, all of which we cover. What else we do in Carnoustie
Why it’s worth doing now in Carnoustie
New grout smeared over the old does not bond well. A thin skin on top tends to break off. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Around Carnoustie, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
Why us?
- Tidy, careful work
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- 180+ five-star Google reviews
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

Surface by surface
Bathroom floors
Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It gets worn and dirty.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It can’t fix waterproofing below the tiles.
What we can’t put right
We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- A leaking shower valve or waste
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.
