How we handle regrouting in Dalrymple
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, or just the area that has failed. Either way, tiled areas in Dalrymple are handled the same careful way. Common call-outs are for grout washed out of a shower and floor grout that won’t come clean, on shower walls, tiled floors and kitchen splashbacks.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
Our work is backed for twelve months, in Dalrymple and everywhere else we cover.

Dalrymple: your questions answered
Do you cover Dalrymple for regrouting?
Yes, Dalrymple is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Will you come out to Dalrymple?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.
Which products do you use?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we are using and why.
Does someone need to be in?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Can you change the grout colour?
Yes, regrouting is the time to do it. Mention the colour you have in mind when you send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
How much does regrouting cost in Dalrymple?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote and we will talk you through it.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
Landlords and letting agents in Dalrymple can book us as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
Why deal with it now?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

When to call us in Dalrymple
Most grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that is used every day.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
If you live in an older home near Parish Church and Churchyard, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it cures fully. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and let the room air.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
Surface by surface
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It can’t fix waterproofing below the tiles.
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but still stain and crack. New grout freshens them up.
What regrouting looks like in Dalrymple
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

How the visit works
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outside jobs in Dalrymple need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
