Alloa Regrouting
We cover Alloa for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Shower grout that has worn away
How we handle regrouting in Alloa
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. We are often asked to deal with good tiles let down by tired grout and gaps where the shower grout has gone, across shower walls, bathroom floors and wet rooms.
Around Alloa, we see everything from older flats to family homes on newer estates. In every one, the usual problems are mould in the bead, gaps where things have moved and tired grout.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Should I try it myself first?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Keeping the joints in good condition
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. By then, new grout alone is not enough so early action pays.
What we do, step by step
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first. Surfaces next to the work are protected before work begins. The work usually takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. A visit in Alloa needs three things planned: access, parking and where the work is. Outside work depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
How to prepare
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

What affects the cost of regrouting
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- The product the joint needs
- How many areas need sealing
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Access and height
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first.

Regrouting around Alloa
Alloa is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Alloa has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.
If you look after a building such as Alloa Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Alloa North Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Common problems we fix in Alloa
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
Rented homes near Alloa station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
What to look for in a quote
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- Who turns up on the day
- How long to leave it before use
Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Shower walls
The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.
Why act early in Alloa
Regrouting won’t help where tiles have come away. We will tell you before work begins, so you can decide what to do. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. In Alloa, wind and rain soon get through failed outside joints. Indoors, failed sealant lets water into floors and ceilings.
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
