Our bathroom resealing service in RH9
A bead that has gone black, split or come away is worth sorting before it lets water through. A photo of the joints helps when you phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email, and you will get a clear quote for bathroom resealing in RH9. Common call-outs are for sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and gaps where the bath or tray has moved, on sinks & splashbacks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, including the tidy-up.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
How we quote
Combining jobs into one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
What you get with us
- An ARBOMaster approved applicator
- A sealant colour to suit the surroundings
- Experience in homes, commercial sites and hotels
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
Ask for a quote
We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Landmarks near Godstone
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Godstone Village School, Church of St Nicholas and The Hare And Hounds Public House, among other places. Godstone’s nearest station is Godstone station, about 2.2 miles south of the centre. Nearby you will also find Caterham Dene Hospital (2.5 miles north) and Bletchingley Castle (1.9 miles west). For a walk, there’s Mercers Lake and Bay Pond.
Where we work in RH9
Our bathroom resealing work across RH9 covers homes, rentals and businesses, in Holmethorpe, Godstone and Blindley Heath and well beyond. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
Hard water across most of the South East leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. For any job in RH9, joints are cleaned back properly before anything new goes in.
Godstone: If you live in an older home near Church of St Nicholas, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Letting a property close to Godstone station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
How the job changes by surface
Basins & vanity units
Basin joints are short and close to eye level: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, in white, clear or a colour to suit.
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Whether the work is at height
- The type of sealant required
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll talk you through it.
What to tell us for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- The rough size of the job
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Where the job is, and your postcode
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email pictures if that’s easy.
Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Give the silicone its full cure time
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the silicone gets a chance to dry.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
Should I try it myself first?
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
RH9 questions
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, including cutting out the old sealant. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, never. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone doesn’t bond to silicone. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in RH9?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You’ll get a clear quote before work begins.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
