Mastic and sealant across PO9

How bathroom resealing works in PO9

The secret of a lasting bead is the preparation. The old sealant is removed to the last smear, then the joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. We work on baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away and damp behind the bath or under the tray.

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, and the area is left clean.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

What you will pay

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Bathroom resealing across PO9: local notes

Homes across PO9 range from older properties to new builds, with plenty of rented property in places like Havant, Leigh Park and Denvilles. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.

The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across PO9 is planned around the weather. Along the coast in PO9, window and wall joints facing the sea take the brunt of the weather, and that is where sealant normally gives up first. The right product and careful preparation help it last.

Havant: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Trosnant Infant School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Letting a property close to Havant station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Surface by surface

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line does not stand out.

How to look after the new joints

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up

Give the silicone time to cure before it gets wet, which is generally around 24 hours. After that, a quick wipe after showering helps keep it clean.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in PO9

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How many areas need sealing
  • How much there is to do
  • How easy the joints are to reach

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will talk you through it.

Helping us quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to know:

  • The rough size of the job
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The type of property
  • A few photos by email, if you can

We quote each job on its own. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job.

What happens if it’s left?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, turning a small job into a building repair.

Why it fails

With age, silicone loses its stretch. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners do not help.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting

PO9 questions

What should I tell you?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Does someone need to be in?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

Where are you based?

We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover PO9.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for householders, landlords, letting agents, businesses and hotels across Hampshire.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes. Every job carries our 12-month guarantee.

Can you just seal over the old silicone?

No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
