Bathroom Resealing in Forestside

Professional bathroom resealing in and around Forestside, with every bit of old sealant taken out first.

  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off

Bathroom resealing for Forestside homes and businesses

When to call us in Forestside

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone cannot grip the old bead underneath, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Water getting behind the bath panel
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing

In the older streets around Christ Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Before you book anyone

  • What product goes in the joint
  • What preparation is included

Our hiring checklist

Bathroom resealing in Forestside, done properly

Across Forestside, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and splits where the tray meets the wall.

In a village or hamlet like Forestside, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • When we can work, for business premises

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to know:

  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and describe the job.

Questions from Forestside

Do you cover smaller places like Forestside?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Forestside?

Yes, Forestside is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Are you insured?

Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes. We reseal worktop upstands, sinks and splashbacks, with a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows.

How long will the resealing take?

Allow half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. You’ll know how long to expect before any work starts.

What should I tell you?

Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. Then call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Forestside, along with the rest of our area.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.

Can I do it myself?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What sealant work cannot fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

What happens if it’s left?

Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. Lumpy sealant with smears on the tiles has the opposite effect. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Forestside, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What you get with us

  • Neat joints and a tidy finish
  • A sealant colour to suit the surroundings
  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • One-year guarantee on every job

The process

When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. In a small place like Forestside, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a quote

Call for a quick quote, or email us if that is easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will explain what’s involved and give you a clear price.

Advice

Keeping the joints in good condition

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
