How bathroom resealing works in G67
A reseal only lasts if the joint is properly prepared. Every bit of old silicone comes out, down to the thin film left on the tiles, then the joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould. New silicone goes on only when the joint is fully dry. Typical jobs include failed sealant on the screen profile and a joint torn by a bath that flexes, across sinks & splashbacks, wet rooms and baths.
At the end, we look at the finished work together. The work normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, depending on the amount of work.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.
How we quote
Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.
What you get with us
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- Colour picked to suit the job
- A choice of colours where the product allows
- We agree the colour with you first

Around Cumbernauld
In Cumbernauld, that means homes and buildings near The Carrick Stone pub, Our Lady's High and St Mungo's Church. The closest station to Cumbernauld is Cumbernauld station, roughly 0.9 miles south-east. Other landmarks nearby include Cumbernauld Museum (less than half a mile south-east) and Antonine Centre (less than half a mile south-east). For a walk, there’s Bar Hill.
Where we work in G67
Homes across G67 range from older properties to new builds, with plenty of rented property in places like Cumbernauld, Carrickstone and Cumbernauld Village. Bathroom resealing keeps bathrooms and kitchens watertight and looking cared for.
Our work covers the whole of Scotland, G67 included. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather.
Cumbernauld: If you live in an older home near St Mungo's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Letting a property close to Cumbernauld station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
When something else is needed
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Failed grout lines across the wall
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
Why deal with it now?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, turning a small job into a building repair.
What your quote should include
- Whether they seal over old material or remove it
- What insurance they hold
- How the colour is chosen
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
How the job changes by surface
Basins & vanity units
Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.
Sinks & splashbacks
The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.
Common problems we fix in G67
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
Quotes for bathroom resealing in G67
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Any working-time requirements on site
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The amount of work
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.
What we need to know
When you call or email, these details help:
- If someone has resealed it before
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Roughly how big the job is
- The type of property

Your questions about bathroom resealing in G67
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
After around 24 hours in most cases. You will get the exact cure time before we leave.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
Do I need to be at home?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses, and we’re fully insured.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. We cut out all of the old sealant, clean the joint and start again.
What colours of sealant can you use?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant won’t bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
