Need gutter sealing in Motherwell?

How we handle gutter sealing in Motherwell

Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. We seal them in a colour to suit where one is available. We work on garage door frames, roofline trims and gutter end caps, and common reasons people get in touch are failed sealant on a garage door frame and cracked sealant along roofline trims.

Scottish weather is hard on outside joints, and a town like Motherwell gets its share of wind and rain. A gap in a gutter joint, fascia trim or wall joint soon lets damp in.

Our work is backed for twelve months, in Motherwell and everywhere else we cover.

Motherwell: your questions answered

Is Motherwell in your area for gutter sealing?

Yes, Motherwell is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

I let a flat near Motherwell station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

How long will you be here?

That depends on how much there is to do, but as a guide it takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. We’ll tell you when we quote.

How long should I leave it?

Cure times vary by product. Before we leave, we’ll tell you the cure time.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Do you work on high-level gutters?

Single-storey and low-level gutters are straightforward. If it’s higher up, let us know and we’ll confirm the access.

Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?

It will not last. The joint will pull apart, so the fall and brackets need sorting first.

Do you need gutter sealing in Motherwell?

Sealant on fascias and trims weathers like any outdoor joint. It hardens, shrinks and splits after some years.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Garage door frames letting rain in
  • Old gutter sealant that has let go
  • Fascia boards with gaps between them

In the older streets around Dalziel High Parish Church, old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep.

What to look for in a quote

  • How hidden problems are handled
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • The length of the guarantee
  • Which colour the sealant will be

How the job changes by surface

Garage door frames

Resealing a garage door frame keeps rain and draughts out.

Soffit joints

Open soffit joints let draughts in. A neat seal closes them.

How the visit works

When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so you know exactly what we are doing. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. The work generally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In a Scottish town like Motherwell, parking is normally straightforward, though older centres can be tighter. If you are in a flat with a shared stair or a door entry system, let us know when you book.

  1. We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
  2. We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
  3. The joint is dried before sealing.
  4. A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Clear the area around the work

Advice

How we quote for gutter sealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • The number and length of the joints
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Access and height

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.

What we need to know

You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:

  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

Need a quote? Please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details. You will know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

Leave it or put it right?

You do not need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Sealing the frame generally stops it, if the frame itself is sound. If you live in a flat in Motherwell, failed sealant can send water to the neighbours below, and that is much harder to put right.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What you get with us

  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • 20+ years of sealant experience
  • Homes, businesses and hotels
  • A sealant colour to suit the surroundings

See our cost guide or customer reviews.

For landlords and businesses

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

When something else is needed

In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

  • Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
  • Rotten or damaged fascia boards

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

Walls and rooflines in Motherwell

Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Historic houses like Cambusnethan House (about 3.2 miles south-east) are a reminder that the area around Motherwell has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material.

If you let a flat or house near Motherwell station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Braidhurst High School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.
