Gutter Sealing in Shotts
Gutter and fascia joints in Shotts need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- Leaking gutter joints and stop ends
- End caps that drip every time it rains
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Shotts
We don’t replace gutters, fascias or roofs. Sealant fixes joints; it will not fix a broken bracket, a cracked section or a blocked downpipe. If you are dealing with damp patches inside below a leaking gutter and old sealant on roofline trims that has split, we can put it right, on garage door frames, gutter joints and uPVC fascias alike.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Shotts depends on the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

What gutter sealing looks like in Shotts
Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
Around Shotts, as everywhere, gutter sealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Shotts
Do you cover smaller places like Shotts?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is Shotts in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes, Shotts is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.
Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?
We do. We seal the joints, not replace the boards, and if a board is damaged, we will tell you.

What guarantee comes with the job?
You get our one-year guarantee on every job.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.
How long does gutter sealing take?
That depends on how much there is to do, but as a guide it takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. We will tell you when we quote.
Why act early in Shotts
A bead squeezed onto a wet joint might hold for a while, but it soon lets go. Proper preparation is the difference. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote.

- Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)

What we’re called out for in Shotts
Gutter joints depend on seals that wear out. Temperature changes make gutters move and that movement opens up tired joints.
Look out for any of the following:
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
- Dripping gutter ends
- Old gutter sealant that has let go
- Garage door frames letting rain in
If you let a flat or house near Shotts station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- Are they insured?
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
What affects the cost of gutter sealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Access and height
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The product the joint needs
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Where the property is
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
To get a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before we start.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
