About our gutter sealing in Greenrigg

We work across Greenrigg on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Single-storey and low gutters are simple to reach and if it’s higher up, let us know and we’ll confirm what access is needed. Common call-outs are for leaking gutter joints and stop ends and stop ends leaking at the end of a run, on gutter joints, gutter end caps and roofline trims.

Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Greenrigg as everywhere else we work.

Outdoor mastic being applied where a white frame meets red brickwork, below the fascia and gutter

The process

There’s no need to move everything out before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run in most cases. Outdoor work around Greenrigg depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. First we agree which joints need sealing.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. We make sure everything is dry.
  4. The sealant is applied and finished.
  5. The joints are checked once sealed.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Tell us about any water getting in

Quotes for gutter sealing in Greenrigg

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • The type of sealant required
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much there is to do
  • Any mould that needs treating

Combining jobs into one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

For a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.

What the job involves on each surface

Soffit joints

Soffit joints are sealed in a colour to suit.

Garage door frames

Resealing a garage door frame keeps rain and draughts out.

Why deal with it now?

New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. Where the gutter is in good order and only a joint leaks a reseal is all it needs. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

Signs you need gutter sealing in Greenrigg

Sagging sections pull joints apart. Sealing will not hold if the gutter keeps dropping, so the gutter needs refixing first.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
  • Failed sealant on a garage door frame
  • Old gutter sealant that has let go
  • End caps that drip every time it rains

If you let a flat or house near Blackridge station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

Before you book anyone

  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • What the cure time is
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • How much experience the applicator has

Outside joints around Greenrigg

Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that.

Schools such as Armadale Academy are buildings too, and larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.
