Gutter, fascia & soffit sealing in Freshwater, Isle of Wight
Gutter and fascia joints in Freshwater need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant.
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
- Leaking gutter joints and stop ends
Gutter sealing in Freshwater, done properly
A leaking gutter joint marks the wall and wets the ground underneath. Resealing the joint is often all it needs if the gutter isn’t damaged. We work on gutter joints, roofline trims and uPVC fascias, and common reasons people get in touch are end caps that drip every time it rains and old sealant on roofline trims that has split.
In a smaller place like Freshwater, some homes face open ground, and walls and rooflines facing the weather take the worst of it. That’s where gutter joints and wall joints tend to fail first.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Freshwater
Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Freshwater any different?
Near the sea, outside joints face more wind, rain and salt than they would inland, so the choice of sealant and the preparation matter even more. Walls facing the sea are usually the first to need attention.
Is Freshwater in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Freshwater is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing.
How long does the job take?
A typical job takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, including the preparation. We’ll confirm how long when we quote.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do, and we are fully insured.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.
Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?
Yes. Open joints along uPVC fascias and soffits can be sealed in a colour to suit.
What information do you need?
A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.
What happens on the day
Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it generally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In a smaller place like Freshwater, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
- We make sure everything is dry.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- We check our work before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

How the job changes by surface
Garage door frames
Garage door frames let rain in when their sealant fails. We cut it out and reseal.
Roofline trims
We seal the trims, not the roof. A roofer deals with the roof itself.
Why deal with it now?
New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint a reseal is all it needs. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. In an older home around Freshwater, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that’s a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

Walls and rooflines in Freshwater
Freshwater is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
If you live in an older home near All Saints' Church, old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep. Schools such as All Saints Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
- Do not leave a sagging gutter
- Rest ladders on the wall, not the gutter
- Watch for drips in a downpour
Leave the new sealant to cure as we advise and avoid disturbing it.
Once roofline sealant splits, water can get behind it. Resealing early protects the boards.
What affects the cost of gutter sealing
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The type of sealant required
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Access and height
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
What we need to know
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- How we’d reach the joints
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Whether it has been sealed before
Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.
