Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Freshwater
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Freshwater. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on baths, sinks & splashbacks and kitchen worktops & upstands, and people most often call us about a joint torn by a bath that flexes and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off.
In and around Freshwater, older properties sit alongside newer ones. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Freshwater and across the Isle of Wight.

Aftercare tips
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
In a kitchen, do not let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.
A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
How the visit works
All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we have agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. A visit to Freshwater is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice
Bathrooms and kitchens in Freshwater
Freshwater is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you look after a building such as All Saints Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.
Freshwater is about 5 miles south of Lymington, in the Isle of Wight. Anywhere in PO40, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Freshwater is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover. Southampton is on our list too, around 17 miles away.

What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we seal

For landlords and businesses
From a single let to a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Leave it or put it right?
Dealing with sealant early is a short job: the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Wait for a leak and you may be looking at panels off, drying out and redecorating too. In a smaller place like Freshwater, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Indoors, a failed seal lets water into floors and panels as it would anywhere.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Common questions in Freshwater
Is bathroom resealing in Freshwater guaranteed?
All our work, in Freshwater and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Will you come out to Freshwater?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Should I try DIY first?
You can, for simple jobs. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, by replacing the sealant. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
How long will the resealing take?
It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
White, clear and a range of colours are available. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- How much there is to do
- How many areas need sealing
- Which sealant suits the joint
The cost depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before any work starts.

To help us quote quickly, please include:

What we’re called out for in Freshwater
The wrong product fails fast. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants aren’t made for constant wetting, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. Wet areas call for a sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
Homes close to All Saints' Church include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
