Cowes Bathroom Resealing
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Cowes? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
What affects the quote in Cowes
You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The product the joint needs
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- The amount of work
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- Where the property is
- A few photos by email, if you can
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Whether it’s a home or a business
We don’t publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Cowes
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. The joint between worktop and wall, the edge of the sink and the bottom of the splashback get wet every single day, and water behind a laminate worktop can make it swell. We reseal them with a kitchen-suitable silicone, matched to the worktop where it’s on show. We work on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are mouldy sealant that has gone black and leaking joints on a shower screen.
Cowes mixes older houses with estates built more recently, so bathrooms range from long-standing suites to recent refits. Either way, the sealant and grout are normally the first things to fail.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Should I try it myself first?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
When something else is needed
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly.
Surfaces we seal
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Kitchen worktops & upstands

How it works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. In Cowes, parking is rarely complicated, though it helps to know about driveways or restrictions, and mention if the work is upstairs, in a flat or high on the outside.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Advice
Cowes homes and their sealant
Cowes is within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Managing a site like Cowes Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you live in an older home near St. Faith's Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.

Aftercare tips
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Clean the silicone with care: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
What happens if it’s left?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal. In a family home in Cowes, a failed seal around a bath or a frame lets water into places you cannot see, like the floor under a bath, the back of a panel or the inside of a wall. Whatever the joint, failed sealant only gets worse.
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Cowes: your questions answered
Is Cowes in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Cowes is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Do you take on hotel work around Cowes?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we will quote it together.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Cowes.
Is it worth trying it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Normally after around 24 hours. You will get the exact cure time before we leave.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No. A bead laid over old silicone soon starts to come away, because silicone does not bond to silicone. Every trace of the old bead is removed first.
