Common questions in Afton Park

Does the coastal weather in Afton Park affect outside sealant?

Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so the choice of sealant and the preparation matter even more. It’s worth checking the walls that face the sea first.

Is Afton Park within the area you cover?

Yes, Afton Park is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

Yes. White, clear and grey are common, and other colours are available, and we agree the colour with you before we start.

Do you guarantee gutter sealing?

Our 12-month guarantee applies to all our work.

Can you fit new guttering?

That is not something we do. Our work is sealing joints; replacing gutters and fascias needs a gutter or roofline installer.

What about gutters on a second or third storey?

It depends on the access. Tell us the height and what’s around the gutter and we will confirm what’s needed.

Is sealing fascia joints something you do?

Yes. We seal open joints along fascias and soffits in a matching colour.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

About our gutter sealing in Afton Park

We seal leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascia and soffit joints plus roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints, not replacing the gutter. If you have gaps along fascia and soffit joints and internal damp traced to a gutter joint, we can put it right.

Around Afton Park, older buildings can be stone, brick or timber-framed, many with extensions added later. The joints where those materials meet are the weak points, and they need the right sealant at the right depth.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Different surfaces, different methods

Soffit joints

We choose a sealant colour that suits the soffit.

Roofline trims

Sealing roofline trims is joint work only. A roofer deals with the roof itself.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Blocked downpipes
  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Gutter joints
  • Garage door frames
  • uPVC fascias
  • Gutter end caps
  • Soffit joints
  • Roofline trims

How to look after the new joints

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Look along the fascias for open joints
  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
  • Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
  • Don’t lean ladders against the gutter itself

Check the joints after heavy rain. It’s the easiest time to see a leak.

If an end cap is dripping, deal with it before winter. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp.

Gutter sealing in Afton Park: local notes

Afton Park is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.

In the older streets around St. Agnes' Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. Schools such as All Saints Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

Leave it or put it right?

A new garage door is not needed for a leaking frame. Sealing the frame normally stops it. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Afton Park, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for.

We also work for property managers and facilities teams. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured.

What affects the quote in Afton Park

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • How much there is to do
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • The type of sealant required

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What we need to know

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Roughly how big the job is

Getting a quote is simple: let us know the job and the location and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

What we do, step by step

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Afton Park needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
  2. We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
  3. The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
  4. Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
  5. The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
