Bathroom resealing in Southend

Can I do it myself?

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

About our bathroom resealing in Southend

Homes in Southend have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. If you’re dealing with failed sealant on the screen profile and damp behind the bath or under the tray, we can help.

A bathroom in a place like Southend gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

Big or small, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Southend

Southend is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

If you live in an older home near St Columba's United Presbyterian Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Southend is in Argyll and Bute. Wherever you are in the PA28 postcode area, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Southend is one of 118 places in Argyll and Bute we cover for bathroom resealing. We also work in Glasgow, about 65 miles from Southend.

All of PA28 is within our area for bathroom resealing. That includes homes and businesses on Teapot Lane, Dunaverty Court and St Columba's Way. We also cover Drumlemble (7 miles north), Kilkerran (7 miles north), Campbeltown (8 miles north), Askomill (8 miles north) and West Darlochan (10 miles north). Remote and island addresses need a little more planning, so please mention your location when you email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Common problems we fix in Southend

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation give mould all the damp it needs, and mould that has grown into the silicone normally will not clean off.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing
  • Splits where the tray meets the wall

Around Southend, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will quote.

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.

Why act early in Southend

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. In an older home around Southend, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Why book with us

  • Domestic, commercial and hotel work
  • A sealant colour to suit the surroundings
  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • Arbo and Everbuild products

Southend: your questions answered

Is bathroom resealing in Southend guaranteed?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Is Southend in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Southend is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We are a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

Allow around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. You will know how long to expect before we start.

Is there any odour?

Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient.

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Baths move more than any other fitting, so we fill it with water before sealing. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and isn’t torn the first time it’s used.

Sinks & splashbacks

Water getting under the rim of an inset sink can soak the worktop. We reseal the visible edge of the sink where it has failed.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • A tray or bath that is cracked through

If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

How it works

Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Somewhere like Southend may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
