Bathroom resealing in Marley
A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. Common call-outs are for a bead that has pulled away from the tiles and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, on kitchen worktops & upstands, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks.
Somewhere as small as Marley, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How it works
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Marley needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Related advice
Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Leave it or put it right?
Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. A new bead often brings the whole room back. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us. Older cottages and farmhouses around Marley can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Marley
The wrong product fails fast. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants are not designed for a joint that is wet every day, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
People usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
For landlords with property near Snowdown station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether VAT is included
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- How much experience the applicator has
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
Aftercare tips
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.
What else we do in Marley
Marley homes and their sealant
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Schools such as Barham Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Homes close to Church of St Giles include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
