About our bathroom resealing in Greatness

Sealant is the soft line between a bath, shower or worktop and the wall. Once it cracks or goes mouldy, water starts to find its way through into walls, panels and floors. Our team cut the old bead out completely and lay a new one in anti-fungal sanitary silicone. If you have a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and water getting behind the bath panel, we can help.

In and around Greatness, older properties sit alongside newer ones. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Greatness and across Kent.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the size of the job. A visit to Greatness is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

How to get a quote

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Bathroom resealing around Greatness

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you let a flat or house near Bat & Ball station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you live in an older home near St John the Baptist, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Greatness is about 1 mile north-east of Sevenoaks, in Kent. Wherever you are in the TN13 postcode area, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Greatness is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we work. London is on our list too, around 19 miles away.

Work in TN13, TN14 and TN15 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. That includes homes and businesses on Seal Road, Mill Lane and Sandy Lane. We also cover the places around Greatness: Seal (1 mile east), Godden Green (2 miles south-east), Styants Bottom (3 miles east), Bitchet Green (3 miles south-east) and Stone Street (3 miles south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Maidstone (14 miles east), Dartford (11 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (11 miles south), Gravesend (12 miles north-east), Tonbridge (7 miles south-east) and Northfleet (12 miles north-east).

Local landmarks in Greatness

Keeping the joints in good condition

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then

Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something doesn’t look right, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

A failed kitchen joint is easy to miss. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. A reseal in time can save the worktop.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Greatness

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Whether the work is at height

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Where the property is
  • If someone has resealed it before

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email photos if that is easy.

What the job involves on each surface

Wet rooms

Wet room floors move slightly as they’re used, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone won’t last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Greatness?

Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Bathrooms without good ventilation give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.

The problems people normally mention when they call include:

  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone

If you look after a building such as St John's Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is chosen
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Are they insured?
  • How long the guarantee is
