Ardrishaig Bathroom Resealing
Our applicators work in Ardrishaig on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
DIY sealant or a professional job?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
Bathroom resealing in Ardrishaig, done properly
Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. Common call-outs are for gaps where the bath or tray has moved and failed sealant on the screen profile, on baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard.

When it isn’t the sealant
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.
What we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Basins & vanity units
Why act early in Ardrishaig
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it cannot stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, and the next reseal means two layers to cut out. In a place like Ardrishaig, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Ardrishaig
Ardrishaig is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
In and around Ardrishaig, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Ardrishaig
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.
Common reasons people contact us are:
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Lochgilphead High School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
What to look for in a quote
- How hidden problems are handled
- When the joint can take water or movement
- How long the guarantee is
- Whether they’re fully insured

How we quote for bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How many areas need sealing
- When we can work, for business premises
- The type of sealant required
The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask about the job first.
What to tell us for a quote
When you call or email, these details help:
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- The address or postcode of the job
- Roughly how big the job is
There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we give you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
How the visit works
Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. It usually takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any tricky access
