Greenock Bathroom Resealing
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing for Greenock, backed by a one-year guarantee. Ask us for a quote.
- Black spots spreading through the bead
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
How we handle bathroom resealing in Greenock
Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the bath panel and water escaping at the shower enclosure.
Scottish towns like Greenock tend to mix older stone-built streets, harled houses and newer estates. Whatever the age of the house, sealant and grout wear out in the end.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

The process
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. A visit in Greenock needs three things planned: access, parking and where the work is. Outside work depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Mention any tricky access
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

What bathroom resealing looks like in Greenock
Greenock is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Rented homes near Drumfrochar station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Greenock?
A bath shifts a little every time it’s filled and emptied. Acrylic in particular gives slightly under the weight of water and a person, and a tray that is not fully bedded can rock. That movement works at the bead until it splits or peels away.
The most common problems we see are:
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
If you look after a building such as Wellington Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Greenock: your questions answered
Do you take on hotel work around Greenock?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
Do you work for landlords with property near Drumfrochar station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Is white the only colour available?
There’s a choice: clear, white and colours chosen to suit the room. We can help you pick when we quote.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.
What information do you need?
Tell us what needs doing and where. If we need more, we’ll ask.
How long does a bath or shower reseal take?
It takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. We’ll confirm how long your job needs when we quote.
What do you put in the joint?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.
What happens if it’s left?
Running new silicone over the old joint can look tidy for a few weeks, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows. Scottish weather finds any gap, and in a town like Greenock, failed outside joints soon let damp into walls. Inside, a failed seal around a bath or shower lets water into floors and ceilings.
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
Basins & vanity units
On a basin, neatness shows: so we keep the line tidy and even, in white, clear or a colour to suit.
What sealant work cannot fix
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.
Where we work in Greenock

- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Basins & vanity units
- Shower trays & enclosures
Should I try it myself first?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.
