Window & door mastic in Fallin, Stirling
Window mastic for Fallin and the surrounding area: the right sealant, proper preparation and a neat finish. Ask us for a quick quote.
- Water coming in at the bottom corners of a door
- A bead that does not match the frame
- Mastic that is falling out in pieces
Looking after it afterwards
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Don’t aim a pressure washer at the joints
- Clear any debris from frame drain holes
- Wipe condensation off the frames
- Paint up to the joint, not over it
Keep sill grooves and drainage slots clear, so water can run away instead of sitting against the joint.
Water gets in quietly when mastic fails. You might not see it until plaster blows or a damp patch appears inside. Early resealing stops it reaching that point.
Window mastic in Fallin
Behind a thin line of old mastic there’s sometimes a deep void. Filling it with sealant alone leaves a joint that can’t move properly, so deep gaps get backing rod first. That way the new bead bonds to the frame and the wall only. If you’re dealing with untidy mastic left by window fitters and mastic that’s falling out in pieces, we can help, whatever the surface.
In and around a place like Fallin, homes range from older stone-built cottages to newer houses. Exposed frames and sills take the full force of wind-driven rain, so the mastic there works hard.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

FAQs for Fallin
Will you come out to Fallin?
Yes. Fallin is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Stirling station?
Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Our 12-month guarantee covers every job.
Can new window sealant be painted?
Silicone generally won’t take paint. If you plan to paint, tell us first and we can use a paintable sealant where it suits the joint.
Will resealing my frames help with draughts?
Yes, where the draught is at the frame edge. We check where the draught is before any work starts.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.
Do you have sealant for grey or black windows?
Yes. Anthracite grey, black, brown and white cover most frames, with clear as an option.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We’re a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
When it is not the sealant
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:
- Faulty window hardware
- Worn gaskets, brush seals or a door that has dropped
- Rotten timber, which needs a joiner first
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we seal
- Timber windows & doors
- uPVC windows
- Patio & French doors
- Aluminium frames
- Window sills
- Composite doors
Surface by surface
uPVC windows
Plastic frames move a lot between a hot afternoon and a cold night, so the joint needs a low-modulus sealant that stays flexible. We match white, brown, anthracite grey and black frames.
Aluminium frames
Aluminium needs a sealant that bonds to coated metal and we avoid acetoxy silicones, which can react with some metals. Neutral-cure sealant is the safe choice.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. We can quote for more than one property at once.
What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours for a few frames, or a day or more for a whole house. Somewhere like Fallin may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- First we look at every frame and agree the list.
- We remove the old mastic and clean the frame and the wall.
- Where gaps are deep, backing rod goes in first.
- We apply a weatherproof sealant to match the frame and tool it neatly.
- Every joint is checked before we leave.
Preparing for the visit
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
How to get a quote
We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Related advice
Leave it or put it right?
Getting a straight, even bead on an outside frame takes practice, especially upstairs. We cut out properly, back deep gaps and tool every joint neatly, in a sealant suited to the wall. In an older home around Fallin, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We will give you a clear quote for the lot.

Frames and glazing around Fallin
Fallin is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That is hard on the mastic around window and door frames, especially on the side facing the sea. Sash and case windows are common in older Scottish homes, and the joint between the box frame and the stone or render is traditionally pointed with sand mastic.
Letting a property close to Stirling station? Then renewing tired window mastic between tenants heads off draught and damp complaints.

When to call us in Fallin
On timber frames, paint and putty build up around the joint. Mastic painted over many times cracks with the paint, and the wood moves with damp as well as heat.
The most common problems we see are:
- Cold air getting in at the frame edge
- Water coming in at the bottom corners of a door
- Black, perished sealant on frames
- Rushed sealant from a window installation
Around Fallin, as everywhere, window mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.
