Trusted regrouting in Wolfhill

Why deal with it now?

If tiles are loose, regrouting alone isn’t the answer. We’ll tell you before we start so you know what’s involved. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. In a place like Wolfhill, small leaks are easy to put off, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.

The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first.

How we handle regrouting in Wolfhill

Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Either way, tiled areas in Wolfhill are handled the same careful way. We are often asked to deal with kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, across shower walls, tiled floors and wet rooms.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months.

When something else is needed

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A leaking wet room membrane
  • Cracked or broken tiles

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
  • Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Rinse the tiles after showering

Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

What we do, step by step

All our tools and materials come with us in the van. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outside jobs in Wolfhill need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Questions from Wolfhill

Is Wolfhill within the area you cover?

Yes. Wolfhill is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you cover Wolfhill for regrouting?

Yes, Wolfhill is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

New grout cannot hold loose tiles in place. We flag any loose or hollow tiles before starting, so you can decide what to do.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we’re fully insured.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our 12-month guarantee applies to all our work, and we are fully insured.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?

Yes, that is common. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so many people regrout just that part.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Regrouting around Wolfhill

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom wall tiles

Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.

Shower walls

A shower wall is soaked daily, so grout there works hardest. It normally fails first.
