Regrouting in Watermead
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, or just the area that has failed. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. If you are dealing with crumbling grout between the tiles and good tiles let down by tired grout, we can help.
In and around Watermead, older properties sit alongside newer ones. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

How the job changes by surface
Bathroom floors
Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It wears and darkens over time.
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
Landlord and commercial work in Watermead
We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Watermead and across Buckinghamshire. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured for the work.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll give you a quote.
When it is not the sealant
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- A leaking shower valve or waste
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Check the corner silicone every few months
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.

What else we do in Watermead
DIY versus a professional finish
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Watermead homes and their sealant
Watermead has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you live in an older home near Church of St James, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Louis Catholic Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Watermead questions
Do you cover smaller places like Watermead?
Yes. Watermead is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you work in hotels near Watermead?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Regrouting won’t fix loose tiles. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow so you know where you stand.
Should I try DIY first?
That depends on the joint. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll tell you exactly how long when the job is done.
Will it make a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Will there be a smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Opening a window helps.
Common problems we fix in Watermead
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
Rented homes near Aylesbury station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

How it works
There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room in most cases. A visit to Watermead is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
