Buckingham Regrouting
We cover Buckingham for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
For landlords and businesses
Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can be quoted together.
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Buckingham
We check the tiles before any grout comes out. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, because regrouting won’t fix what’s behind them. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. We work on shower walls, bathroom floors and bathroom wall tiles, and the jobs we see most are grout that makes sound tiles look old and splashback grout that has darkened.
Homes around Buckingham have been extended and refitted over the decades, some more than once. Sealant run over the top of an old bead is a common cause of leaks and mould, so we take every joint back to clean before anything new goes in.
Every job is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Buckinghamshire.

What regrouting looks like in Buckingham
There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Buckingham. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
In the older streets around St Peter and St Paul, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Surface by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. You can change the colour at the same time.
Bathroom floors
Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.
What affects the cost of regrouting
There’s no set price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Whether the work is at height
- The type of sealant required
- The number of rooms or windows
The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
What we need to know
To make quoting easier, please include:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How we’d reach the joints
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Do you need regrouting in Buckingham?
Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, leaving the joints sunken and rough.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Grout washed out of a shower
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
Schools such as George Grenville Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Before booking anyone
- What preparation is included
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- What product goes in the joint
- What guarantee comes with the work
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
Have any tile that moves checked straight away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.
FAQs for Buckingham
Do you work in hotels near Buckingham?
Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
Do you cover Buckingham for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Buckingham is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first.
Will it make a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
Regrouting will not fix loose tiles. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow, so you can decide what to do.
How long does regrouting take?
That depends on the amount of work, but as a guide it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.
Do you reseal at the same time?
Yes, in most cases. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and could still leak.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
How the visit works
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, including the tidy-up. For a job in Buckingham, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. For outside work, let us know about side access, gates and any upper-floor joints.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Mention any tricky access
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
