Need regrouting in Netherton?

How it works

When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a tenement in Netherton, work inside your flat is between us and you, while shared parts may need the factor or neighbours to agree. It helps to know which it is when you get in touch.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Regrouting in Netherton

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so nothing is ripped out. We work on tiled floors, wet rooms and bathroom floors, and people most often call us about good tiles let down by tired grout and crumbling grout between the tiles.

Scotland’s cities have a lot of flats, from sandstone or granite tenements to modern blocks, as well as houses in the suburbs. Scottish water is generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas, but mould still grows into sealant and grout in a steamy bathroom.

Netherton questions

Do you work for landlords with property near Westerton station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Do you work for hotels and guest houses in Netherton?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or just the joints that have failed.

Will there be a smell?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

We generally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.

What does regrouting cost?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

How to look after the new joints

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Check the corner silicone every few months
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering

Have any tile that moves checked right away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and lets water in.

Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

What affects the cost of regrouting

We do not publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Which sealant suits the joint

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before work begins.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

When it is not the sealant

To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Wet rooms

Netherton homes and their sealant

Glasgow has a lot of sandstone tenements, where most bathrooms sit above another flat. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

If you let a flat or house near Westerton station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. Managing a site like Knightswood Secondary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Common problems we fix in Netherton

Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, leaving the joints sunken and rough.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned

In the older streets around Knightswood St Margaret's Parish Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
