About our regrouting in Longridge

Across Longridge, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, and we finish by resealing the edges. Common call-outs are for floor grout that won’t come clean and grout in corners that has cracked, on wet rooms, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles.

A bathroom in a place like Longridge gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

What sealant work cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Bathroom floors
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner

Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and keep the room ventilated.

Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Regrouting in Longridge: local notes

In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Rented homes near Breich station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

When to call us in Longridge

Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down with repeated use, until the joints are rough and low.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone

Around Longridge, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Comparing quotes

  • The length of the guarantee
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Are they insured?
  • When the joint can take water or movement

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

There is not much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere like Longridge may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Advice

FAQs for Longridge

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Breich station?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Can you do regrouting in Longridge?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Longridge is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Do you grout the corners?

Silicone. Grout is for the joints between tiles and moving joints need sealant.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

It can. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

How long should I wait before showering?

It varies with the products and the room. We’ll give you a time to follow at the end of the visit.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It gets worn and dirty.

Wet rooms

In a wet room, the whole floor gets wet, so sound grout really matters. We check for loose tiles before starting.
